KOP MISSION TRIPS

In June, Bob and Monique Boekhout lead two mission trips to Jubilee Children's Center with a total of 21 volunteers.

The first group left Charlotte on May 31 and consisted of:

 Dr. Ernie Myrick, DDS and Mrs. Myrick, Clover, SC
Mellonie Wallace and Carolyn Clark, Dr. Myrick’s dental assistants, Clover, SC
Bill and Sara Turner, Clover, SC
Nancy Pittman, Nashville, TN and Janice Thomas, Chester, SC, RNs

 

Dr Myrick and his assistants provided preventive dental care, fillings and extraction to the children and the staff.


Mrs. Myrick and Sara Turner checked the children’s and staff eyes, made and provided them with glasses as needed.

 

Nancy and Janice gave all the children a complete physical, made sure all of them have received their immunization and treated them for ringworms if needed.

 

Bill Turner was our spiritual leader and worked with Bob Boekhout to prepare the material and tooling necessary for the second mission team.

 

On June 8 a second team departed Charlotte, NC and consisted of:

The main goal for the above team was to build 24 bunk beds and 16 school desks for our future High School.

 

Ramona and Kelly worked with Monique and organized activities with the children.  A field trip is scheduled to take the children and staff to Bomas of Kenya where they learned about the Kenyan culture.


On June 16, JCC had its first "Olympics" where the children will compete in teams in short races, water balloon toss, obstacle race, etc.  Winners received gold, silver and bronze medals.  We also had the first "Ruai Cup" after a final four soccer tournament.
