Missionary/Volunteer Guest House

After five years of existence, Jubilee Children's Center has several buildings at different stages of completion. The reason for this is twofold. The first is that needs have dictated our priorities. Dormitories were first erected and then the classrooms. The high school buildings followed so that our first ninth grade students would have classrooms to attend high school. The second reason to the construction at Jubilee Children's Center is that some of the donations received have been restricted for the construction of specific segments of Jubilee Children's Center such as the permanent kitchen, infirmary and the missionary/volunteer guesthouse.

A very important mission of KOP is to expose our children to different teachings and cultures, as well as to allow citizens of the world to witness first hand to the conditions existing in Nairobi, Kenya while contributing to existing needs. Through past mission trips and individual volunteers, KOP has seen how valuable they are to the children. These individuals not only bring joy, laughter and happy memories to the children, but also enlighten their young developing minds. Missionary and volunteer programs are like an after-school program for the kids: helping them with their reading, writing and speaking skills; teaching them a variety of subjects; coaching sports; and also providing them with health care and working on small construction projects.

In the past, all the mission trip participants have stayed in a hotel in Nairobi called the Methodist Guest House because there are no available accommodations close to Jubilee Children's Center. Travel time from the hotel to JCC takes anywhere between one hour and one hour and a half every morning and every night; this is valuable time that could be spent with the children.KOP is expanding its missionary and volunteer programs because of the numerous benefits they bring to the children at JCC. The guesthouse will be a safe haven for mission trip participants and volunteers while they are at JCC. It will allow volunteers to live onsite during their stay at the orphanage and have the basic comfort of a clean bed, showers and kitchen facilities. There will also be a quiet room for meetings, group prayers and bible study.
