Kenya Educational Endowment Project

 - KEEP Fund -

The Kenya Educational Endowment Project will help KEEP our children from returning to the slums.  Education is the key to break the cycle of poverty! Our children hunger for the opportunity to attend vocational schools and college to learn the skills that will help them to become productive adults.

The Mount Kilimanjaro Climb Fundraiser named "KEEP Climbing" was held in February 2006. Twelve people from both North and South Carolina took on the challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro and in the process, raised $125,000 to establish a permanent endowment to finance quality higher education for the 134 children presently at the center.

Our 134 children, between 5 and 16 years old, are taught the same subjects as in U.S. public schools by a staff of eight teachers and a head master.  All children will need either college or a vocational education before they can enter the job market and break the cycle of poverty.

The earnings of the KEEP endowment fund will be used to pay for college tuitions, vocational teachers and materials. When our climbers summited Mt. Kilimanjaro, they climbed to 19,340 feet. Each of our climbers raised money to start the KEEP fund. The sponsorship levels were as follows:

 Uhuru Peak Level  $19,340+
 Horombo Camp Level  $12,100+
 Marangu Level  $5,000+
 Jubilee Level  $1,000+
 Lion Level  $500+
 Zebra Level  $100+

Your help is still needed!
Individual and corporate sponsorships are continuously needed to support the endowment. Donated funds will go strictly to the KEEP Fund.
