Cost of Operations
For the calendar year of 2007 the prorated budgeted cost per child, for only the daily operations, at a census of 98 children is US$519.00 per year per child. This includes food, clothing, hygiene supplies, school supplies, livestock maintenance, repairs and maintenance, utilities and capital expenditures. Then it also covers the labor costs for matron/nurses, teachers, cooks, helper/cleaners, watchmen, grounds/site supervisor, gardeners and livestock caretakers, social workers, part time accountant/bookkeeper and an administrator.
Future Construction
In 2007, we started the construction of JCC’s high school block and the infirmary/medical center. Because nine of our children were ready to start high school the beginning of this year, priority was given to building five classrooms where they will attend school, have a computer lab and a science lab. The medical center was also started because of a designated contribution. The center will allow us to take care of the health of eventually 300 children, but also open it up to the neighborhood.
In 2008, we hope to finish the construction of the permanent kitchen and the missionary/volunteer guesthouse. The permanent kitchen will be equipped with modern cooking facilities to replace the slow cookers and firewood presently used. We will also have refrigeration. The dining room will also be used as an assembly hall for church services on Sunday.
The missionary/volunteer guesthouse that will be able to accommodate a dozen of people at a time is also under construction. KOP is expanding its missionary/volunteer program because of the numerous benefits it brings to the children and to the participants of the program. Please click here to read more about this project.
Other Needs
There is also a need for additional bunk beds, desks, tables and benches for the classrooms and the dining hall, kitchen equipment, administrative office furniture and fixtures and a van for pick-up of donated food and necessary transportation of the children.

Support the Children
- Sponsor a Child Program
It is our goal to find two sponsors for each of our 98 children, as this is how we generate money for the operation of Jubilee Children’s Center. In the 2006/07 fiscal year, it cost $519 per year/per child. This covers food, clothing, housing, school supplies, healthcare, teacher and staff salaries, etc.
Full sponsorship is $500 per year.
Half sponsorship is $250 per year.
You will be assigned one child, receive his/her picture and a short history. You will be asked to mail cards a few times a year and you will receive letters and drawings from your child in return.
School Text Books
We have classes from pre-school to 8th grade at Jubilee Children's Center. The beginning of 2008 starts our first high school classes and we will soon have students in all four levels of high school.
School text books are needed on a yearly basis.
School text books: $40.00 per child/per year.
Shoes, Laces and Belts
Our children wear black leather shoes with their uniforms to go to classes and then change into sneakers and casual clothes after school. Every year, we try to buy them a brand new pair of shoes together with replacement laces and belts.
Cost per child: $20 per year.
Kenya Educational Endowment Project: KEEP Fund
In 2006, we created the KEEP Fund restricted to higher education. All children will need either college or vocational education before they can enter the job market and break the cycle of poverty. The earnings of the KEEP Fund will be used to pay for college tuitions, vocational teachers and materials.
A contribution to this fund is an investment into the child’s future.
